Kat spent much of her early and mid-childhood dodging bullets on the streets of Whitestone, New York, the most notorious neighborhood in northeast Queens. In a place where independent drag-racers reside at the top of the social hierarchy, Kat’s keen understanding of the world around her manifested itself in the form of supreme pop-culture consciousness. Nonetheless, Kat (a.k.a. Kathy Dukes) endured her adolescence admirably, acquiring fluency in nine languages and three of the five dialects of Alaskan grunt-chatter. She is currently working towards her MFA in Layering of Mad Hot Beats at a humbling university in our nation’s esteemed capital.
